Looking for a way to hook a serial printer, graphics tablet, camera or PDA to the USB ports on your new iMac, 'blue and white' G3 or USB equipped Macintosh computer? The Keyspan USB Serial Adapter is a simple and reliable way to make the connection.
The Adapter plugs into any built-in USB port on your Mac or USB Hub. It provides two serial ports which can be used to connect to Macintosh serial devices.
The Adapter requires Mac OS version 8.1 (or later) and Mac OS USB drivers version 1.0.1 (or later).
Note: The installer will not run unless you have the Mac OS USB drivers version 1.0.1 (or later).
If you have an iMac or 'blue and white' G3 running Mac OS 8.5 or greater, these drivers are already installed.
If you have an iMac running Mac OS 8.1, the Mac OS USB drivers version 1.0.1 can be obtained from the iMac Update 1.0. This update is included on the CD-ROM that came with your Keyspan USB Serial Adapter and can also be downloaded from Apple's web site.

Using Keyspan USB Serial Adapter With Mac OSX
I have been getting a lot of questions about using USB serial adapters with my Mac. Although there are a lot out there, I usually recommend that people try the Keyspan USA-19HS. I have never had an issue with this adapter on OSX, as well as Windows.
![Driver Driver](http://forum.uscutter.com/uploads/monthly_2017_12/1512250100786999520351.thumb.jpg.bb16e5f548e694914c0f43a9e54f34b2.jpg)
I do recommend installing the driver that comes with the adapter, it will add a new device to OSX, /dev/tty.KeySerial1.
Once you install the driver, you can add the small AppleScript snippet to open a new terminal window and utilize screen. You can also compile this simple script and create a clickable application to launch your serial screen quickly.
Code below:
tell application 'Terminal'
do script with command 'screen /dev/tty.KeySerial1'
set number of rows of window 1 to 100
set number of columns of window 1 to 80
set background color of window 1 to 'black'
set normal text color of window 1 to 'green'
set custom title of window 1 to 'SerialOut'
end tell
do script with command 'screen /dev/tty.KeySerial1'
set number of rows of window 1 to 100
set number of columns of window 1 to 80
set background color of window 1 to 'black'
set normal text color of window 1 to 'green'
set custom title of window 1 to 'SerialOut'
end tell
I must thank Mark Stewart for the info on this.
